A little bit of NetWords history…

A little bit of NetWords history…
Thursday, July 15, 2010 (All day)

NetWords was initiated as an e-mail blast, several years ago, by Paul Lima, a former PWAC member and popular writing trainer, who continues to work as a freelancer in the GTA. As PWAC Toronto Chapter continued to grow, so did our NetWords following.

Three years ago, I took on the task of expanding NetWords to an E-newsletter format, which helped to build our readership and continued to expand our writing community, bringing together more industry organizations, professional freelance writers, journalists, authors and writing enthusiasts.

With increased visitors and growing event submissions, it became more and more difficult to manage our expanded listing and NetWords member subscribers. I had to become efficient at getting the information out. I learned that the best way to stay informed was by engaging in conversations outside the PWAC organization. Knowing this, I tried to build this opportunity for exchange in to our new blog structure.

So here it is: my pet PWAC project that has evolved since the new-year, with the help of my PWAC Toronto Chapter Board colleagues and my savvy intern, Stephanie White (pictured here with me) from Centennial College’s Book and Magazine Publishing Program.

It’s the NEW NetWords GTA news blog and events hub, where you (our subscribers and visitors) will continue to get even more of what NetWords provided before…

  • important information on writing
  • industry news and trends
  • ongoing conversations
  • up-to-date event listings
  • current contest calendar and
  • tons of resources for writers, in and around the GTA

So please join in the conversation, bookmark the blog, share it, post your events and stay informed by visiting often!

Hope to see you on the patio at PWAC Toronto Chapter’s first summer Cheers with Peers event on Thursday, July 15th at The Central. Bring your friends! All are welcome for a casual get together with friendly writer types.
